About Trip

Vegan trekking trail is a newly launched trekking destination route for the nature lovers and animal-friendly people. This is a moderate trekking destination where most of the activities are done in Baglung district of Nepal.

During the trip, we can see the panoramic view of the mountain ranges most of the time. Besides that, we will spend our time walking in the thick Rhododendron forest, upstairs stone-paved trails, and crossing rivers through suspension bridges. We can have an opportunity to meet and communicate with the local people and local children. We can experience the culture and tradition of the people living in the different area having different caste and religion. Besides that, this journey will leads you towards a peaceful environment where you will experience completely a hassle-free life.

Vegan trekking trail is mainly designed for the vegan travelers (and also for other travelers too) who loves to travel in Nepal but dwelling about the perfect destination. This trip will be a completely new experience for all travelers.

 

Main Attractions: UNESCO Heritages sites, Kushma Bridge (longest suspension bridge of Nepal), Bhakunde view tower, big high rocky hills, Mountain ranges, unique culture, custom & tradition, etc.

Transportation for Trek:

Start of the Trek: We can have an option of flight or drive to reach Baglung from Kathmandu for this trek. A flight usually takes 30 – 45 minutes to reach Baglung whereas a drive towards Baglung takes 6 – 8 hours.

End of the Trek: We will take a local Jeep from Bhakimli to Baglung or Pokhara. Then again take a Bus ride or flight to return back to Kathmandu.

Permits: There is no permit fee for this vegan trekking trail.

Accommodations of Trek: We will stay at Hotels, Homestay and camping during the trek.

Telephone and Wi-Fi in the trek: Wi-Fi is almost available in every part of the trekking places whereas telephone service is not easily available mostly in the village areas.

  • Day 01Drive to Baglung and stayYour trip to Vegan Trekking Trail begins from Kathmandu. At first, you will have breakfast and a ride from Kathmandu to Baglung (1020m) which is 275 km west of Kathmandu. Although the road is narrow, you will catch the best landscape views from the window seat. En route, you can stop at many rest stops for a short break and meals. Then you will reach Baglung Bazar via Pokhara. Overnight at Baglung Bazar.

    Baglung Bazar: Baglung Bazar is one of the main trading centers of Baglung district. Majority of the population belongs to ethnic communities of Brahmin, Magar, Chhetri, and Dalits. Smaller groups of Newar, Gurung, and Thakali also live in this area.

    Activities:
    - Explore town, streets and narrow lanes of Baglung Bazar
    - Visit Kushma suspension bridge (longest suspension bridge of Nepal, 1128 feet long)
    - Visit Kalika Temple for evening “aarati” and Sandhya.
  • Day 02Day 2: Trek from Baglung to BhakundeToday you will enjoy a warm breakfast at the Hotel in Baglung with the scenic view of high hills and peak of Mt. Dhaulagiri. Then you will begin your trek from Baglung to Bhakunde (1900m) which is about 4 hours of trek. While heading towards Bhakunde we have to cross the long suspension bridge which is an exciting and thrilling experience of this trek. Then you will walk through the peaceful jungle listening to the sounds of the birds and insects and reach the pond where you can take a rest for lunch. There you will see the wonderful view of the mountains and high hills. After lunch, you will ascend to Bhakunde through the stone-paved upstairs trail. Bhakunde is a good place to observe the Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna ranges. Overnight at homestay in Bhakunde.

    Bhakunde: Bhakunde village is located at an altitude of 1950m. Most of the people living here are Magar. They have their own language and culture which represents the uniqueness of Baglung district. Most of the people living in Bhakunde involved in agriculture and animal rearing.

  • Day 03Trek from Bhakunde to Baura (1950m)Today, early in the morning, you will hike to Bhakunde View tower (2200m) to watch the sunrise and panoramic Mountain View. Then you will start walking in the plain red muddy road by watching many hills and a big rock. After walking some time, you will enter the forest filled with Rhododendron trees. After the forest, you will descend down in the hills and again walk in the plain road. After walking for a while by enjoying beautiful terraced farming you will reach Baura (1950m). The trail is comparatively so easy for walking. Overnight in a homestay at Baura.

    Baura: Baura is a peaceful village where we can have a wonderful panoramic view of Mountain ranges. We can see different types of vegetation, terraced farming and traditional thatched roof houses made from mud, stone, and hay. It is also a good place for camping during the trek.

    Activities:
    - Hike to Bhakunde view tower for sunrise and panoramic mountain view
    - Explore organic farming lands.
    - Walking through thick Rhododendron Forest.
  • Day 04Sightseeing at Baura and meeting with local peopleAs a day of rest, today you will explore the Baura village. Early morning, you will have a healthy breakfast with the scenic view of mountain ranges. Then you will get an opportunity to meet with local villagers and visit the local school for learning about the villagers’ lifestyle. In the day time, you can visit the organic farming lands and explore the traditional houses made of mud and stone and roofed with hay.

    Activities:
    - Interaction with local villagers.
    - Visit Gajako Dhuri for beautiful Mountain View and scenic view of many villages.
    - Explore organic vegetation farming.

  • Day 05Trek from Baura to Bihun On this day, you will reach the new destination, ie. Bihun (1900m). At first, your trail leads you towards the steep roads and downstairs. After walking for a while you will enjoy walking in the plain roads and paddy fields by watching the primitive stone roofed houses. You can have lunch and take some rest at Kadesh. Walking further in peaceful environment welcomed by varieties of butterflies, you will reach Bihun. In the evening, you can enjoy evening cultural dance and folk songs. Overnight at Bihun.

    - Enjoy the cultural dance and folk songs.
    - Climbing upstairs trail.
  • Day 06Trek from Bihun to OkheleWitnessing the lifestyle of local people, you will start your trek towards Okhele (2150m). Many butterflies will join you during your trip. While watching beautiful traditional houses, wild birds and other natural scenarios, you will reach in Phaparkhet which is popular for Buckwheat. There you can have a unique taste of Nepali meal “Phapar ko Dhindo”. After enjoying the meal, you will enter the thick Rhododendron forest. After crossing Rhododendron forest and some beautiful villages you will reach Dhamja Deurali (2160m). You will have lunch at Dhamja Deurali. Then you will climb through upstairs trail and reach to Okhele. O/N at Okhele.

    Activities:
    - Jungle walk through Rhododendron forest.
    - Exploring beautiful villages and terraced fields.
  • Day 07Trek from Okhele to Bhakimli (4 hrs. trek)On this new day, you will walk across the Rhododendron forest and big rocky hills. In the morning, you will have a warm breakfast, with the beautiful scenic view. The trail will be mostly stone-paved upstairs and downstairs trail. At first, by climbing up through stairs you will reach to Okhele Deurali (about 2552m) where you can feel the cool air of the clouds. Then after, you will descend and visit Sworgashram which is a peaceful place to hear the chirping voice of the birds from the thick dense forest. Also, you will see the panoramic view of the mountain ranges from Sworgashram. After spending some good time in Sworgashram, descend to Bhakimli (2150m). During the trek, you can see green forests, upstairs and downstairs trail, mountains and village. You will have lunch at Bhakimli village. After lunch, take some rest, then in the evening, some vegan interaction with local people. O/N at Bhakimli.

    Activities:
    - Visit the peaceful place, Sworgashram and perform meditation (if you want).
    - Watching the huge rocky stones and hills.
  • Day 08Bhakimli sightseeing and drive back to Pokhara/BaglungEarly morning after having breakfast, hike to Beldanda for amazing views. Then explore the Bhakimili village. After having lunch, drive to Pokhara or Baglung.

    Bhakimli: Bhakilmi is a village development committee in Myagdi District in the Dhaulagiri Zone of western-central Nepal. A good view of Mount. Dhaulagiri can be seen from here. Besides that, we can watch the big rocky hills in Bhakimli.

    - Sightseeing around Bhakimli village.
    - Beautiful view of Mt. Dhaulagiri.
  • Day 09Drive/ Fly back to KathmanduAfter having a healthy breakfast, drive or fly back to Kathmandu. In the evening time, free time to sightseeing around Thamel. O/N in Kathmandu
  • Day 10DepartureDeparture for onward destination.
